“My favorite thing to think on, to ponder on is how different everyone is in the whole world and one of my least favorite things to ponder on is the fact that for some reason, even though everyone is different and we all know it and at a certain point in our life we really embrace that, we grow up, and we go trough school and all those years kind of thinking that we need to be like everyone else, and everyone is trying so hard to be the same, when that’s not how we were born and meant to be individuals. So I guess what I have to say is… after you get out of high school and then you get into college or work or whatever you do, I think there is a switch, like there is a light that goes off and you start to realize how maybe there are parts of yourself that you suppress for other people and there are parts of yourself that you’ve not let blossom and bloom because you’ve been maybe kind of nervous about what that would mean for your social status and all that stuff. Just take it from me, someone that got bullied trough junior high, I’ve always felt like a loser my whole life, but I think that now that I’m 24 years old and I look at all the friends I have and all the people around me that love me for who I am, I realize that they love all the different things about me that aren’t like anyone else and I think that you should embrace those things now. Learn early that it’s good to be different and it’s good to sort of like go against the grain and challenge what’s normal. You’ll thank yourself later I think.“ Hayley Williams Makes You Feel Great.
私が大好きなヘイリーのインタビュー。まだ英語は勉強中だから、100パーセントは理解できていなかったけど、スクリプトがあって、最高！このインタビューから、embraceという単語を知って、すごく素敵な言葉だと思って、生きる気力がわいてきた。それまで、自分が順応できないことで、くよくよしたりしていたけど、”受け入れる”という選択肢もあるということを知れたし、ヘイリーのこのインタビューから、順応できない自分でも良い！ということを知れた。大切なインタビュー。日本の多くの女の子が、こういう考え方もあると、知ってもらえるといいなぁ。
